Old Street - Bak Kut Teh has been around since 2010, but it is only until today we came to realise its existence and even had a chance to give it a try! Newly opened in Nex just weeks back (formerly owned by Burger King), Old Street Bak Kut Teh brings together families and friends to experience the Chinese culture and also the tradition of Old Street.

As part of Old Street, beancurd and dough fritters are available upon order. Set menus are available which includes all these (Soup Bak Kut Teh + Dough Fritters ($2) + Beancurd + Rice ($0.80) at an affordable price of $11.10! Strongly recommended to order from their set menus under the "Promotions" tab if you really wish to experience how Old Street Bak Kut Teh is savoured.

A heads up if you're wondering how dough fritters can be incorporated into this meal and how do you go about reaping the best of it; simply dip one dough fritter into piping hot Bak Kut Teh soup and pop it into your mouth! As easy as that. If you prefer soggy dough fritters, you can dip them for a while longer and it'll be well soaked through with peppery pork rib soup. For ourselves, we like it crispy so  it'll always be a quick dip.

Soup is refillable, so go crazy and ask for more hot soup! Of course, do take what you can finish. We wouldn't want wasting any delectable soup do we?

Sauces are available at the island counter as well. Feel free to pair them up according to your own tastebuds. As for us, black sauce with chilli padi is definitely the way to go with pork ribs. No worries about it being too spicy, just be sure you don't bite on those scheming seeds. Other than that, you can also try having black sauce with freshly chopped garlic.

Another "MUST TRY" dish when you're dining at Old Street Bak Kut Teh would be their Dry Bak Kut Teh. As it was something different from the normal soup based bak kut teh, this dish caught our attention. It was unique and we really loved it although it became a little salty when cooled.

Not too sure about how it was done, but it seemed something like stir-fry pork ribs in black sauce with dried chilli, ladies finger and topped with cuttlefish. An impressive idea as the cuttlefish brought out more texture to the dish with its chewiness!

A fulfilling meal indeed, will definitely be back for more. :)
