Tanuki Raw

Have you ever had a drink accompanied by freshly shucked oysters? Well, now you can! 

Tanuki Raw, Singapore's Raw Bar/Restaurant, serves up fresh oysters brought in from France, Canada and Japan at $2 with every drink order (limits to 6 per drink). 

Other deals during their happy hour (5pm-8pm daily) also include:

• $7 for 5 slices of Salmon sashimi
• $10 Martinis and Cocktails
• $12 pints of beer

Unfortunately, the budding #slurpmunchburp crew aint drinkers and we had to give their happy hour a miss. For non-drinkers like us, NOT TO WORRY. Tanuki Raw has a decent range of mains for you to choose from and we definitely have one to recommend!

Truffle Yakiniku ($18++). 

A japanese rice bowl served with pan seared black angus short rib, onsen egg and seasoned with truffle soy sauce. One word, amazing. I'm not sure if it's the lack of our experience out food hunting (do let us know if you've tried better), but this is by far the most tantalising japanese rice bowl we've ever tasted! 

Tasty rice mixed with seaweed/fish flakes seasoned with truffle soy sauce. For a truffle lover like ourselves, we were amazed by how we could taste truffle in every bite to an extend we thought they shaved truffle in the rice bowl! (Usually the truffle taste vanishes after several bites, esp from our experience with truffle fries). It was so good! 

Don't forget to incorporate the onsen egg into your rice bowl. (We only mixed half, so we could get a glimpse of how the rice originally tastes like without the egg). We'll definitely be back to try their other Japanese rice bowls and dishes, hopefully they'll be just as good.

Next up, we had the Ocean Rockefeller ($12++).

Raw Salmon, Scallop and Spicy Lobster and topped with torched mozzarella. One thing i'd commend Tanuki for would be the freshness of their sashimi served, makes everything taste better. 

Tanuki Raw is hidden on Level 2 of Orchard Central, away from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road at any point of the day. Just to cater to the working crowd, Tanuki serves lunch bowls (>$12+) from 11.30am-3pm. Probably one of Singapore's best value lunch bowls in town.
