Having first started off from delivering packed lunches to construction sites around Singapore, Diandin Leluk (Beach Road) and Tuk Tuk Thai Kitchen (Geylang) has been around since the early 1990s. Admitting to the lack of ventures around our little red dot in the early days, we never knew they existed until our cravings for Thai food arose which led us to "Little Thailand", also known as Golden Mile Complex.
From the time you step in to the shopping centre, be warmly greeted by the familiar smell, buzz from the wide use of national language, and sights that would bring back memoirs of your past trip in the land of smiles.
Diandin Leluk is located at the ground floor of Golden Mile Complex, occupying more than 3-4 times the size of normals shops in the area. It would be impossible to miss if you're contemplating on dropping by for a meal. Even if you do, there are many other similar restaurants to reside in which serves authentic thai cuisine and has their own specialty as well.
Apart from the usual Thai Milk Tea ($1.80), we decided to give their Ice Green Tea ($1.80) a shot. The thickness and sweetness had already brought our tastebuds a step back to Bangkok.
Fresh Coconut ($4).
Condiments are freely available for you to spice up your meal according to preference. Chilli Flakes, Sour Thai Chilli Sauce, Sugar and Peanuts (mmm our favourite~).
Seems like all went well until our main course was served and was disappointed. Giving the benefit of doubt, i believe we made the wrong choice on dishes as other customers (mostly working adults) who ordered individual dishes seemed to enjoy it better.
Green Curry Chicken ($12), which wasn't something we hope to sing praises about. Unless you fancy having each spoon of curry with 1/3 fraction of it oil, we would suggest to make an alternative choice.
Mango Salad ($6).
However, Diandin Leluk's Phat Thai ($6) was really good! A myriad of flavours (sweet/sour/spicy/salty, just like good 'ol authentic thai dishes by incorporating these tastes) accompanied by raw beansprouts, a wedge of lime and the freedom to have as much peanuts, not forgetting the generosity of eggs in the dish as well.
