It may be just any other restaurant to any of you, but to the family/owner of "A Southern Louisiana style seafood restaurant with a local twist"- Crab in Da Bag, it is home. Influenced by her Mother who is a great cook, the owner of Crab in Da Bag decides to share and bring the creations in her Mum's kitchen to greater heights! Mum's cooking is always the best eh? :)
From serving seafood in transparent bags to eating off right from the table top and even recommending you to dig in without cutleries, Crab in Da Bag provides you with a fun and fulfilling time of bonding over dinner. Real bonding indeed where you can finally find a reason to place all your mobile phones down and simply enjoy a meal with your friends/family without distractions. Can you guess the reason why? Scroll through and you'll figure.
(Little thankful we had 7 pax for the night, allowed us to order a decent range of items from their menu)

While waiting for your dishes to be served, enjoy your 3Cs ($5++) which was on the house due to the long waiting time for our other dinner dates. Don't expect refills though, you most probably would want to save space for the other dishes any way.
Crinkled Cauliflower ($8++). Healthy yet not so healthy as it is deep fried. Tasty on its' own that some of us scraped the sauce. Until now, am still trying to figure if battered was use in it although highly doubt it.
Hohoho, and presenting to you one of our favourites for the night! Crispy Chewy Baby Squid ($12++), i don't know if it's just us (highly possible), but we haven't had this in awhile! Sweet, crispy and chewy, a great appetiser to warm up your appetites for the night! (PS. Don't go crazy on it, remember to save some space!)
Mum's Pasta ($16++). I'm guessing the owner's Mum used to cook this for her a lot (what a lucky child). A unique taste as compared to other Italian pastas we usually have, but only a portion of it as too much carbohydrates ain't the way to go on a seafood-night-out.
Next up... BAG IT!!
Simply pick a seafood of your choice from the "Bag It!" section and select your preferred sauce under "Season It" and TADA!
Here is a glimpse of what to expect if you order from "Bag It!" and a few recommendations on the combinations.
Loligo Squid with Caboodle Mix ($19++).
Venus Clams with Ultimate Curry ($21++). They were not kidding about it being "ULTIMATE" cause the curry really is. Not because it is spicy (you have a choice of spiciness), but because of the spices that gives off a really strong flavour.
Whenever you order Crab in Da Bag's Ultimate Curry, never ever forget their Pita Bag ($3++ for 3 pieces). By far the BEST Pita we've ever had, goes 100% perfectly with their ultimate curry. I think we're just missing some Prata here to complete this bag. Haha!
As the portions were rather small, the 7 of us were probably only 2/3 full but fortunately it wasn't all that we order. (The last dish killed us)
Presenting the last but definitely not the least yet probably the most thrilling part of our night ... the CABOODLE BOIL ($299++/$399++)!! It was an experience of the night when the staff brought out a whole metal bucket of seafood and splattered it across the table. (Visit our Facebook page for the video: https://www.facebook.com/slurpmunchburp). Although messy, it was enjoyable and we had so much fun digging into the pile.
The Caboodle Boil comes along with 3 sauces - Louisiana Garlic Butter dip, Thai Green Bird dip and Malaysian Sambal dip. Probably a fusion of Crab in Da Bag's dishes served in one dish. Here's a trick which i figured and the crew L-O-V-E-D, try mixing the Louisana Garlic Butter dip together with the Thai Green Bird dip, dip anything or everything into it before popping it into your mouths and ... VOILA!
Our stomachs were already bursting out of our trousers that evening, but we still had to give this interesting looking dessert a try. I believe it is what they call a Fruity Boat ($5++) and it was given to us with compliments from Crab in Da Bag! Looks and shaped like a watermelon, but it is nothing like one. A fruity jelly with a hint of mint with a slice of honeydew at the bottom. Gosh, we were so so full.
All in all, from the time we walked in and apart from the full house plus skeletal staff which made service rather slow-pace, it was a great experience we would recommend to groups of families/friends. Especially if it's a Birthday celebration, keep your heads up for a cute surprise! & also, do be prepared to get your photo taken for Crab in Da Bag's Facebook page.
